Ruins of the so-called Palace of Minos at Knossos, Crete, Greece, excavated by Sir Arthur Evans in the early part of the twentieth century. The labyrinthine palace was home to the legendary Minotaur, a savage beast, half man and half bull, who ate all those who got lost in his maze.
